The Learning Forward India (LFIN) Professional Learning Program is a collaborative initiative designed to transform school culture through continuous, evidence-based professional development.
Core Pillars of the Program
• Standards-Based Learning: Aligned with the global Learning Forward standards, ensuring that professional learning is not just a one-off workshop but a sustained, data-driven process.
• The "Good Schools" Philosophy: The program advocates for schools to be happy, inclusive spaces where the focus shifts from mere academic coaching to holistic "learning for life."
• Collaborative Networks: It leverages the Good Schools Alliance to create a "network of networks," allowing educators across India to share best practices and peer mentorship.
• Service-Oriented Leadership: Under Dutt's stewardship, there is a heavy emphasis on building leadership capacity at all levels—from students to principals—to foster a culture of agency and accountability.
"Professional learning is the only strategy we have to strengthen the educator's practice so that every student can experience great teaching." — A core tenet reflected in Sandeep Dutt’s approach.
Dutt, an acclaimed educator and author, focuses on the "School Transformation Framework," which prioritises the personal and professional growth of educators as the primary lever for improving student outcomes.
The Literacy Project for Educators, led by Learning Forward India Foundation and the Good Schools Alliance, and supported by stakeholders, aims to raise awareness and promote informed decision-making among educators in India.
Through engagements in 10 cities, the initiative offers a year-long learning journey where participating teachers connect weekly with trainers for guidance, reflection, and practical learning.
The project targets over 1000 educators, with its impact expanding as they share literacy conversations and practices in their classrooms, reaching students and families. A national showcase will highlight stories, learnings, and impacts from across the country.
The scope of the project:
- Financial Literacy
- Food Literacy
- Health and Well-being
- Emerging Literacies like AI and Digital Technologies
Happy teachers, empowered with personal and social development, will prepare happy students. We need to go beyond domain knowledge and equip children with skills for life and good living, as this alone will prepare them to face the world and make our teachers most relevant in the age of AI and humanity.
