GSA Members can customise their reading schedule and access our resources at their convenience. We suggest five sequential steps to establish a reading culture:
Step 1: Attend the Learning Forward Retreat at Dehradun
• Immersive Learning: School leaders and educators participate in an intensive retreat, traditionally held at Fig Tree Cottage in Dehradun.
• Intention: This step removes educators from their daily routines to concentrate deeply on collaborative strategies and pedagogical trust.
Step 2: Join the “My Good School” Sunday Reading Programme
• Collective Literacy: Member schools engage in the regular Sunday online “Read and Lead” initiatives.
• Intention: This creates a routine of shared communication, intellectual empathy, and standardised language across various campuses.
Step 3: Enrol in The Teachers Academy Professional Learning Program (PLP)
• Skill Development: Faculty actively engage in regular PLP interactive virtual sessions and global workshops.
• Intention: This focuses on continuous learning and encourages teachers to model the inclusive, curious mindsets expected of their students.
Step 4: My Good School Retreat - Empower Student Leadership
• A Culture of Ownership: The final phase shifts the cultural changes towards student-facing autonomy, emphasising student voice, collaborative project work, and agency.
• Intention: Genuine trust is achieved when educators successfully transfer accountability, transforming the school into a student-led learning ecosystem.
Step 5: School Culture Transformation - Building schools where Youth Engage Society
• The ‘Youth Engaging Society’ (YES) approach empowers students to become active change-makers through a ten-step plan that promotes personal and social growth.
• Intention: The personal and social development of every individual.
