EBD has served the education sector for over 100 years, starting as a humble Ferozpur bookshop in 1923. The award is announced annually on Smt Snehlata's birthday, 24th July. The ceremony is hosted at the ScooNews Global Ed-Fest in Jaipur in early August. The awardee is invited to Dehradun to honour the legacy and work of the distinguished lady, the longest-serving woman in the history of book retailing in India.
